Naval Architect and Marine Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Design hull forms, superstructures, and marine systems for new builds and retrofits.
  • Conduct hydrostatic, hydrodynamic, and stability analyses of vessels.
  • Perform weight estimation, structural layout, and load calculations.
  • Prepare and review general arrangement drawings (GAs), line plans, and technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers to ensure cohesive vessel design.
  • Ensure all designs and modifications comply with IMO regulations and classification society standards.
  • Provide technical support during construction, drydocking, and sea trials.
  • Review and approve subcontractor and supplier designs for compliance.
  • Perform inclining experiments, sea trial analysis, and performance assessments.
  • Assist in project planning, budgeting, and material selection for naval architecture components.
  • Observes strict adherence to quality standards as well as compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental policies, rules and regulations.
  • Develops plans and programs that will enhance housekeeping guidelines, quality standards, as well as Health, Safety and Environmental policies, rules and regulations.
  • Performs other functions which may be assigned by the immediate superior from time to time.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NAME)
  • At least 2 years of experience in marine design or new shipbuilding projects
  • Strong skills in naval architecture and structural design
  • Proficient in 2D AutoCAD and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • With good academic standing (Transcript of Records required)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

Desirable:

  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience in aluminum or steel shipbuilding
  • Licensed Naval Architect and Marine Engineer (PRC)
