JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Cable Engineer position leads engineering and implementation of cable transfer operations in the FDC (Forward Deployment Center). This position requires in-depth knowledge of all facets of Vessel loading. Additionally, there is a component to the role that involves project management capability, drafting technical specifications and method of procedures for project work.
JOB FUNCTION:
- Leads project specific planning including drafting/reviewing technical specifications and methods of procedure for cable loading.
- Interfaces with all Ocean Operations functional groups including FDC Management, Quality, Safety, Cable Engineering, Cable Jointing, Transmission Testing and Logistics.
- Assist the supervising Manager with cable system vessel loading and installation.
- Assists with engineering and implementation of cable transfer operations.
- Works as a member of a team on activities associated with the transfer of submarine cable systems.
- Write methods of procedures for loading activities.
- Responds to multiple assignments in a timely and efficient manner.
- Sends Daily Reports and emails as needed/applicable.
- Other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFUCATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and sciences is preferable.
- Basic engineering, math and computer skills are required for this position.
- Strong communication, computer, organization, interpersonal and math skills
- Understanding of undersea cable mechanics and principles is required.
- Must be willing to work in cable tanks, ISO containers, and in cable tanks to assist with loading and offloading of customer cables and electronics.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must pass and maintain a Marine Fit for Duty
- At least with certified STCW Basic Safety Training
- Must be able to travel a minimum of 40% of the time and work at remote locations and Vessels.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions.
- Possess the ability to react to changes of responsibility throughout the day.
- Must have the flexibility to respond to multiple assignments.
- Ability to work any shift, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to speak, read and write English fluently
- Amenable to work in Subic, Agila Shipyard
