Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing welding plans, procedures, and specifications for ship repair and construction projects.
  • Review and analyze welding designs, drawings, and customer specifications to ensure technical feasibility and compliance with classification society standards.
  • Supervise and coordinate daily welding activities, ensuring that jobs are executed efficiently and meet required quality standards.
  • Conduct inspections and testing of welds (visual, NDT, etc.) and prepare reports as required.
  • Monitor welding consumables, materials, and equipment to ensure proper utilization and inventory control.
  • Provide technical support and training to welders and supervisors to maintain high-quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards.
  • Collaborate with QA/QC, Production, and Engineering teams to resolve welding-related issues.
  • Recommend process improvements and new technologies to enhance productivity and minimize rework or wastage.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies, shipyard regulations, and international welding standards (AWS, ASME, ISO, etc.).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Naval Architecture, Marine, or related Engineering field.
  • With at least 3 years of experience in welding engineering within shipbuilding, ship repair, or heavy fabrication industries.
  • Certified Welding Engineer (CWE) or International Welding Engineer (IWE) qualification is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of various welding processes (SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW) and related codes/standards.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting welding symbols, drawings, and procedures.
