Inventory Control and Audit Specialist

Purpose:

Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of inventory and operational processes across retail stores, warehouses, and distribution centers. This role supports audit and control initiatives by validating stock accuracy, analyzing variances, and identifying risk areas to minimize shrinkage and improve process efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct periodic and surprise inventory audits in stores and warehouses to ensure accuracy between physical and system counts.
  • Review inventory transactions, adjustments, and documentation to verify compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Perform cycle counts, variance analysis, and reconciliation of discrepancies in coordination with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance teams.
  • Analyze shrinkage trends and root causes; recommend corrective and preventive measures.
  • Support the development and enhancement of inventory control procedures, SOPs, and audit checklists.
  • Ensure proper documentation, control tagging, and monitoring of high-value and high-risk inventory items.
  • Assist in preparing audit reports and follow up on implementation of agreed action plans.
  • Collaborate with operations and warehouse management to strengthen control processes and reduce loss exposure.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy, Internal Auditing, or Industrial Engineering.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in inventory control, audit, or internal control, preferably from retail, FMCG, or distribution industries.
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills; capable of identifying data trends and control gaps.
  • Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with ERP or warehouse systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to communicate audit findings effectively across teams.
