Job Title: Estimator / Cutting List Engineer (Aluminum / uPVC Glass Windows and Doors)


Job Description:

The Estimator / Cutting List Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, material breakdowns, and cutting lists for aluminum and uPVC glass window and door projects. This role ensures that all fabrication details, measurements, and materials are properly computed according to design drawings, technical specifications, and project requirements. The position requires strong technical knowledge of window and door systems, attention to detail, and coordination with the design, production, and procurement teams.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Review architectural and shop drawings to determine scope and specifications of works.
  • Prepare detailed material take-offs and cost estimates for aluminum and uPVC systems.
  • Generate accurate cutting lists for fabrication based on approved drawings.
  • Compute glass sizes, hardware requirements, and accessories per system type.
  • Coordinate with design engineers, project managers, and production for revisions or clarifications.
  • Ensure optimization of material usage to minimize waste and control cost.
  • Maintain and update pricing data for profiles, glass, hardware, and accessories.
  • Prepare quotation summaries and assist in bid documentation when required.
  • Support site verification and measurement confirmation prior to fabrication.
  • Ensure all cutting lists comply with system standards and project tolerances.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Architecture.
  • At least 2–3 years of experience in estimation and fabrication detailing for aluminum or uPVC windows and doors.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Excel, and other related estimation software.
  • Strong understanding of common aluminum and uPVC systems (e.g., 38 series, 50 series, sliding, awning, casement).
  • Able to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and organized.
  • Willing to coordinate with production and site teams when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with fabrication software or optimization tools for cutting schedules.
  • Familiar with local and imported profile systems and hardware brands.
  • Knowledge in cost comparison between different systems or suppliers.
