About the role

This is a full-time role based in Makati City, Metro Manila with DESCORP INC.' - a leading global provider of integrated marketing solutions. As a Trade Marketing Specialist, you will play a crucial role in developing and executing targeted trade marketing strategies to drive brand awareness and sales growth for DESCORP INC.'s products and services within the Philippines market.

What you'll be doing

TRADE MARKETING

  • Develop and execute the Trade Marketing Plan in line with marketing objectives, both offline and online.
  • Improve brand presence and campaign execution across trade through excellence in in-store and e-commerce planning
  • Conceptualize and execute trade promotions based on business objectives, shopper profiling and competitor activities.
  • Put in place a yearly promotional and activity calendar for sales initiatives to improve sell out.
  • Develop in-store promo programs and volume enhancement programs.
  • Provide promotion guidelines and rules based on learning from post-evaluation.
  • Develop commercial toolboxes, including sell-in materials for the sales teams, and in-store highlights for partner retailers.
  • Create impactful POSM / Product Display / Visibility standardization at all channels in collaboration with brand managers, marketing and creatives.
  • Customize campaigns, innovate new POSM based on learnings, resulting in increased product awareness.
  • Evaluate and review implemented marketing activities for developing future plans.
  • Visit stores regularly to ensure that the brand is visible, and guidelines are respected.
  • Analyze sales data, consumer & shopper insight to identify opportunities in maximizing business across existing and new channels.
  • Use available research to understand market trends and make category recommendations. Translate insights into business building opportunities & JTBD (jobs to be done) within specific channels.
  • Develop category captainship across all channels.
  • Conduct store visits to monitor competitive strategies and activities to understand competitors' strengths and weaknesses. Assess competitor's activities, pricing and promo initiatives.
  • Work with internal stakeholders and functions to ensure projects are delivered on time and complete.

INVENTORY AND MERCHANDISING

  • Analyze product and supply levels to anticipate inventory problems and shortages.
  • Recommend and implement move-out plans for slow-moving SKUs.
  • Monitor sales performance of SKUs, achieving healthy weeks cover.
  • Manage overall inventory through the disposal of aging and monitor SKU movement.
  • Implement, manage and monitor store displays, recommending need for refurbishment, upgrades, etc.
  • Drive & coordinate merchandising plan development across channels.
  • Ensure product availability, visibility and proper planogram implementation. In charge of merchandising retail standards.
  • Improve operations in key accounts through analysis of stock/inventory at branch level ensuring improved stock weight for all SKUs.

FINANCIAL

  • Manage the trade marketing budget, allocating promotional budget across channels to ensure optimize return on investment.
  • Prepare budget plans, schedule expenditures in relation to growth strategies.
  • Maximize ROI of investment activities through detailed analysis to improve sales, trade spend, product mix, efficiency, etc.
  • Communicate and facilitate achievement of volume target by month, brand, SKU.
  • Work out monthly rolling forecasts across channels in collaboration with Demand Planner.
  • Develop and implement brand-building programs to ensure achievement of brand sale, margins and EBIT according to agreed metrics.
  • Monitor actual sales performances of the SKUs on a weekly, monthly, seasonal and annual basis against forecast, budget and previous year's performance. Track sell in and sell out versus targets.
  • Ensure all budgets and ROIs are tracked with continuous improvement.
  • Provide timely submission of reports on sales activity and other market updates that impact the brand's topline and bottom line.

PRODUCT

  • Suggest price, promotion strategy and mechanic for new product launch and brand activation campaign.
  • Work closely with the Brand Managers to commercialize brand plans, looking at pack formats, pricing and promotions.
  • Identify and evaluate new business opportunities by understanding market problems, categorizing technology drivers, and following broader industry trends.
  • Trendspot for opportunities, study market movements to try to predict trends, determining product and service data/info gaps.
  • Monitor the quality and integrity of our products and services, and respond as needed to ensure brand alignment.
  • Understand key success factors and obstacles for new innovations and, where necessary, fine tune the mix and the strategy accordingly to make it locally relevant, at the same time always keeping one single brand.
  • Consolidate & rationalize insights to create clear space & range recommendations.

KEY ACCOUNTS

  • Increase on-shelf displays through planogram/space plan negotiation with retail partners.
  • Ensure proper implementation of spaces, both offline and online, according to expansion targets/increase in doors.
  • Collaborate with trade partners on the implementation of trade marketing activities, present key brand growth initiatives.
  • Present and secure approval on new product developments.
  • Monitor sales performance of products and categories through scanned data provided monthly.
  • Prepare for and attend weekly/monthly alignment meetings with trading partners to monitor progress of planned efforts.

  • 3-5 years of experience in a trade marketing or retail marketing role, ideally within the consumer goods or retail industries
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret market data and translate insights into effective trade marketing strategies
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines
  • Creative flair and a keen eye for design, with the ability to develop impactful trade marketing materials
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with trade partners
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related field
