Job Brief

We are seeking an experienced Estimator with deep expertise in water infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates across pipelines, pumps, tanks, bores, hydrotesting, valves, earthworks, and concrete works. The position requires advanced capability with BlueBeam Revu 21 Complete, Pronamics Expert Estimation Genesis, Microsoft Project Professional, and the Microsoft Office Suite. The Estimator will analyse documents, prepare bids, liaise with clients and suppliers, manage take-offs, and ensure all submissions are completed accurately and on time. AI tools will be used to streamline repetitive tasks and improve efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Document Analysis & Clarifications

• Review drawings, specifications, plans, procedures, scope documents, addendums, and tender requirements.

• Identify omissions or discrepancies and raise RFIs/Technical Queries.

• Compile clarifications including inclusions, exclusions, departures, and non‑conformances.

• Cost Estimation & Bid Preparation

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for all components of water infrastructure projects.

• Complete client pricing schedules accurately and in the required formats.

• Maintain and update cost databases and historical pricing.

• Apply appropriate cost rates, sell rates, and margins.

• Identify project risks, opportunities, and value‑engineering options.

• Specialised Water Infrastructure Estimating

• Estimate works involving HDPE, Steel, PVC, MSCL, and Ductile Iron pipelines.

• Estimate pumps, tanks, bores, hydrotesting, valves, and associated earthworks and concrete works.

• Apply accurate methodologies based on Australian standards and construction practices.

• Software & Technical Delivery

• Use BlueBeam Revu 21 Complete for advanced take-offs, markups, and drawing set management.

• Use Pronamics Expert Estimation Genesis for cost build-up, analysis, libraries, reports, and cashflow projections.

• Use Microsoft Project for schedule development, resource allocation, and critical path planning.

• Use Microsoft Office Suite for reporting, pricing schedule preparation, and communication.

• Client & Supplier Interaction

• Liaise with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and engineering stakeholders for pricing and technical clarification.

• Obtain and assess subcontractor and supplier quotations for scope coverage and competitiveness.

• Present estimates, breakdowns, risk registers, clarifications, and schedules as required.

• Bid Submission & Quality Assurance

• Prepare complete tender submissions with all supporting documents.

• Participate in bid reviews and post-bid evaluations.

• Manage time effectively to meet non‑negotiable submission deadlines.

• When not assigned to active estimates, improve internal systems, processes, and estimating libraries.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or relevant discipline (or equivalent practical experience).

• Minimum 7 years Australian estimating experience within water infrastructure or fluid conveyance.

• Advanced proficiency in:

• BlueBeam Revu 21 Complete (take-offs, markups, sets, batch tools)

• Pronamics Expert Estimation Genesis (cost building, libraries, reporting)

• Microsoft Project Professional (schedule development and tracking)

• Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Excel for pricing schedules)

• Strong knowledge of Australian construction methods, materials, and standards related to pipelines, pump stations, tanks, earthworks, and concrete.

• Strong analytical, mathematical, and documentation skills.

• Excellent communication skills across clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and technical teams.

• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and operate in a fast‑paced environment.

Desirable

• Experience presenting estimates to management and clients.

Education
