Position Summary
The Editor-in-Chief will lead the creative, editorial, and cultural direction of the magazine across print, digital, and social platforms for ZEEN Magazine. This role requires a visionary leader who can merge traditional editorial excellence with Gen Z's fast-paced, trend-driven, and digital-native culture.
Key Responsibilities
· Set and execute the
editorial vision
aligned with the magazine's brand identity and Gen Z audience.
· Lead the
editorial team
(writers, designers, social media, multimedia creators) and manage contributors/freelancers.
· Oversee
content production
across platforms (print issues, website, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, podcasts).
· Curate culturally relevant stories on youth lifestyle, fashion, music, gaming, and digital culture.
· Ensure
quality, tone, and authenticity
of all editorial output.
· Develop
content strategies
for audience growth and engagement.
· Collaborate with marketing, events, and brand partnerships teams for special issues, campaigns, and collaborations.
· Represent the magazine publicly — in events, industry talks, and media appearances.
· Uphold
diversity, inclusivity, and representation
in all content and staffing.
· Monitor cultural trends and adapt editorial strategies quickly.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, or related field (preferred).
· –8 years experience in editorial/media, with at least 2–3 years in a leadership role.
· Strong portfolio of editorial work across print and digital.
· Deep knowledge of Gen Z culture and youth lifestyle industries.
· Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
· Proficiency in social media content formats and digital publishing tools.
· Leadership skills with proven ability to manage diverse creative teams.
