We are seeking a highly skilled Network Specialist (Engineer) to work on a part-time, contractual basis. This role will focus on the setup, integration, and management of network infrastructure, ensuring a secure and efficient connectivity across internal systems and external platforms. Key Responsibilities:Configure and maintain secure network connectivity between on-premise systems and cloud environments.

Ensure all connections meet required security standards, compliance requirements, and industry best practices. Implement and manage network configurations, including VPNs (with a focus on site-to-site and certificate-based authentication), firewalls, and routing protocols. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to network latency, performance, connectivity, and security.

Manage and enforce network security protocols, including firewall rules, access control policies, and encryption settings. Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, and security teams to ensure alignment of network architecture with broader project requirements. Monitor network performance and availability, identify and resolve bottlenecks, and optimize configurations for reliability and speed.

Maintain thorough documentation of network configurations, changes, incident resolutions, and system setups for auditing and ongoing support. Role Expectations / Candidate Evaluation Criteria:Site-to-Site VPN Setup: Experience setting up and managing site-to-site VPNs using certificate-based authentication. Understanding of PKI, mutual authentication, and secure key management practices.

Troubleshooting VPN Connectivity: Methodologies for diagnosing intermittent connectivity issues in secure VPN tunnels, especially in high-availability or latency-sensitive environments. Security Controls: Implementation of security controls and best practices when configuring VPNs for high-trust environments, such as those used in financial services or critical infrastructure (e.g., utilities). Redundancy & Monitoring: Strategies for ensuring reliability and failover readiness in redundant network connections.

Familiarity with configuring and leveraging monitoring tools to track link health, detect failures, and trigger alerts or automated responses.
