Manager of Accounting (US Based)

Remote | Full-Time | Flexible Schedule

We are seeking a hands-on Manager of Accounting with proven experience supporting clients within Construction, HVAC, and/or Home Services industries — this experience is required.

If you lead with structure, own accountability, and can manage multiple client accounts without losing the details — this is your next step.

Role Overview

The Manager of Accounting is both a client relationship leader and a people leader. You'll oversee all accounting delivery for your clients, guide a team of Senior and Staff Accountants, and ensure accurate, high-quality monthly close and reporting. You also act as the trusted advisor to clients, helping them leverage their financials to drive operational and strategic decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Senior Accountants and Staff Accountants through monthly, quarterly, and year-end close
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and consistent application of internal accounting policies
  • Oversee and review all financial reporting deliverables
  • Partner cross-functionally on cleanup work, implementations, and process optimization projects
  • Identify and leverage accounting technology to improve both internal workflows and client experience
  • Coach, mentor, and develop junior accounting talent

What You Bring

  • CPA required
  • 7+ years full-cycle accounting experience
  • 2+ years people leadership / team mentoring
  • Direct experience in Construction, HVAC, and/or Home Services accounting (required)
  • Experience with Gusto, Karbon, , Divvy, BigTime, HubDoc, ChargeOver, QuickBooks, Netsuite
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Excellent project management skills and a proactive mindset
  • Collaborative and team-oriented — loves developing others
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Tech-forward and excited to adopt new tools
