Job Overview

The Esports Director is responsible for planning and executing the overall flow and creative presentation of tournaments. This role manages the Run Down, camera coordination, and live direction to ensure smooth pacing and precise visuals. Working closely with the broadcast, stage, lighting, and technical teams, the director delivers engaging.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall program design, flow planning, and on-site direction of esports tournaments.
  • Create detailed Run Down and Cue Sheets to ensure smooth transitions across all segments (matches,
  • openings, awards, performances).
  • Control pacing and visual storytelling to enhance audience engagement and content quality.
  • Collaborate closely with the broadcast, stage, lighting, sound, video, and event execution teams.
  • Deliver real-time instructions via intercom to ensure accurate and timely execution.
  • Manage on-site rhythm and quickly resolve unexpected issues during live events.
  • Oversee the creative consistency of visuals, stage design, and audiovisual content.
  • Direct the camera flow and broadcast logic to ensure dynamic and cohesive coverage.
  • Shape the emotional rhythm and highlight storytelling of the tournament.
  • Participate in creative proposal meetings and production planning.
  • Lead rehearsals and technical run-throughs to confirm cue timing and coordination.
  • Conduct post-event reviews to summarize key takeaways and improvements.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in Film Production, Communication, Directing, or related fields.
  • Minimum 2 years of directing experience in esports, variety shows, or live events.
  • Familiar with live broadcast processes and multi-camera production.
  • Strong understanding of Run Down/Cue Sheet logic and broadcast flow.
  • Excellent sense of camera language, pacing, and scene composition.
  • Skilled in cross-department communication and real-time direction.
  • Strong English or multilingual communication skills for working with global teams.
  • Highly creative, detail-oriented, and resilient under pressure.
  • Passionate about esports with strong insight into audience experience.
  • Willing to travel and work flexible hours during tournament periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Directing experience in major esports events (e.g., League of Legends, DOTA2, PUBG).
  • Knowledge of stage design, lighting, and video packaging.
