Digital Marketing Strategist (Part-Time, Contract)

Role Summary

We're seeking a Digital Marketing Strategist (Part-Time, Contract) to cover maternity leave starting late October 2025 (with potential to extend). This is a strategy-first, execution capable role supporting ~25 active clients across SEO, Social, and Google Ads. You'll set direction, prioritise work, and either execute directly or provide clear briefs for specialists.

Engagement: 15–20 hrs/week

Start date: October

Schedule: 12pm/1pm–5pm NZT (overlap required)

Type: Contract / Part-Time


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and own quarterly → monthly → weekly channel plans (SEO, Social, Google Ads).
  • Prioritise across 25-client portfolio, sequencing weekly actions for impact.
  • Execute hands-on where needed (ads tweaks, briefs, light builds) or direct specialists.
  • Run Google Ads & Paid Social campaigns: budgets, audiences, creative tests, negatives.
  • Guide SEO execution: content outlines, on-page briefs, internal linking, local SEO.
  • Deliver concise weekly updates and monthly performance summaries.
  • Maintain clean workflows: SOPs, dashboards, naming conventions, handover docs.

Must-Have Requirements

Proven experience managing Google Ads & Paid Social campaigns end-to-end (plan → build → optimise → report).

Strong SEO knowledge (on-page, content strategy, local SEO).

Excellent attention to detail (QA across tracking, UTMs, grammar, brand alignment).

Clear communication skills: sharp briefs, updates, and confident client/stakeholder management.

Ability to manage multiple accounts calmly and systematically.


Nice-to-Have Skills / Tools
  • Google Ads, GA4, GSC, Tag Manager.
  • Meta Ads Manager, LinkedIn Campaign Manager.
  • SEO tools: Ahrefs, SEMrush.
  • Basic CMS familiarity.
  • Experience briefing writers/designers.
  • Proficiency in Sheets/Looker reporting.

Success Measures
  • Stable or improving KPI performance across client portfolio.
  • Consistent on-time weekly delivery with minimal QA issues.
  • Clear visibility of next steps for all stakeholders.
  • Smooth handover in and out, with strong documentation.
