Job Summary:

The Accounting Supervisor – Store Inventory is responsible for overseeing the financial accuracy of inventory-related transactions across store locations. This role ensures proper valuation of inventory, reconciles stock discrepancies, monitors goods movement, and calculates cost of goods sold (COGS) to support financial reporting and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and manage inventory accounting processes across all store locations.
  • Ensure accurate inventory valuation in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Perform regular stock reconciliation between physical counts and system records.
  • Monitor and track goods movement (inbound, outbound, transfers, returns) to ensure proper documentation and accounting.
  • Calculate and analyze Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) to support monthly and quarterly financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with store operations, warehouse, and supply chain teams to resolve inventory discrepancies.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of internal controls related to inventory management.
  • Prepare and review inventory-related journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Support audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations related to inventory.
  • Train and mentor junior accounting staff involved in inventory processes.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • Leadership experience is required.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in inventory accounting, preferably in a retail or multi-location environment.
  • Strong understanding of inventory valuation methods.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and inventory management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis tools.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (US GAAP).
  • Experience with stock reconciliation and resolving inventory discrepancies.
  • Familiarity with goods movement tracking and supply chain processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
