Role Overview

Canonical is seeking a highly skilled Developer Relations Specialist to play a key role in engaging with open source communities and developer-centric organisations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participating in team product meetings, contributing insight and expertise.
  • Maintaining conversations with developer community members across various channels.
  • Working with colleagues in other teams to establish commonality and consistent approaches.
  • Helping solve specific technical problems identified by users or colleagues.
  • Contributing to technical documentation to meet developer user needs.
  • Creating technical articles, presentations, and workshops.
  • Identifying new opportunities for improvement in the developer experience.
  • Presenting at conferences, meetups, or technical events.
Requirements
  • A strong candidate is a programmer or developer with a passion for and engagement in open-source software.
  • Experience working with real-world challenges developing and deploying software using Linux.
  • Practical hands-on experience with Linux software packaging (Snaps, debs, charms, rocks, PIP, containers).
  • Understanding of current software packing issues and trends in the Linux ecosystem.
  • Contributions to open-source communities, software, and documentation.
  • An engaging speaker and presenter.
  • Ability to work effectively in contexts with diverse perspectives, needs, and understanding.
  • Builds trust, relationships, and confidence.
  • Willingness to travel globally twice a year for company events and upstream/partner events.
Preferred Skills
  • Previous experience in a developer advocacy or community role.
  • In-depth familiarity with Ubuntu and the Canonical ecosystem of products.
