Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team. The role involves managing daily accounting tasks with a focus on accounts payable, including invoice processing, manual check applications, aging reports, and account reconciliations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accrual-based accounting principles and excellent communication skills. Experience with financial software and systems is an asset.

The selected candidate will be part of a dynamic team that supports the preparation of financial statements and assists with documentation for tax reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handle Accounts Payable operations, including invoice processing, manual check applications, aging reports, and account reconciliations.
  • Record routine journal entries and bank transactions.
  • Enter AP bills and credit card transactions as needed.
  • Assist with month-end closing and account reconciliations.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial data.
  • Perform bank reconciliations.
  • Provide support to accounting team members as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 1–2 years of experience in accrual-based accounting, including AR, journal entries, month-end close, and bank reconciliations.
  • Dependable with a track record of regular and reliable attendance.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; able to interact across all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • High attention to detail with excellent proofreading and editing skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment; organized and able to prioritize independently.
  • Highly self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
Working Conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment. The employee will be largely sedentary, sitting/standing for long periods while using a computer and a telephone headset. The employee may occasionally move about the office to accomplish tasks and may need to lift up to forty (40) pounds.
