Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Canadian Tax Specialist to support our client's real estate and development portfolio.

This role is perfect for someone with strong bookkeeping skills who is eager to learn and grow in a dynamic company environment.

  • Perform full-cycle bookkeeping tasks in QuickBooks Online (Canadian edition) for multiple properties, ensuring accurate financial management and record-keeping.
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements, as well as transactions from Airbnb, long-term rentals, and development projects, maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Accurately categorize transactions according to provided guidelines, adhering to industry standards and best practices.
  • Prepare data and schedules required for Goods and Services Tax (GST)/Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) returns for review and filing by our Canadian accountant, ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
  • Assist in gathering documentation for year-end tax preparation and audits, providing critical support to the accounting team.
  • Generate standard monthly financial reports (P&L, Balance Sheet, etc.) from QBO, providing valuable insights into the company's financial performance.
  • Update and maintain financial tracking sheets (Google Sheets), ensuring timely and accurate data entry.
  • Organize and manage digital receipts and documents using tools like Hubdoc and Google Drive, ensuring they are correctly matched to transactions and easily accessible.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • 2-3 years of experience in a bookkeeping or junior accountant role, with a proven track record of success.
  • Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Online, including experience with an international version (Canada, US, etc.).
  • Experience working with international clients is highly desirable, offering a unique opportunity to develop global business acumen.
  • Skilled in using Google Sheets/Excel for data management and tracking, with excellent organizational skills and a high attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with receipt management tools (Hubdoc, Dext) is a plus, enhancing your ability to efficiently manage financial data.
  • Good written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial information to stakeholders.
  • A proactive attitude and a willingness to learn Canadian bookkeeping principles under supervision, demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
