Key Instructional Designer Role

The Instructional Designer plays a pivotal role in creating engaging learning experiences and effective course content. This position involves collaborating with subject matter experts to identify required learning outcomes and target learner populations.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Implement best practices in learning technologies and instructional design to enhance the learning process.
  • Work closely with subject matter experts to determine required learning outcomes and identify target learner populations.
  • Choose the most suitable delivery mechanisms, including e-learning, virtual classrooms, and face-to-face interactions.
  • Establish clear instructional goals and create content that aligns with them.
  • For e-learning initiatives, visualize instructional graphics, user interfaces, and final products.
  • Design interactive elements that promote learner engagement and enhance the learning experience.
  • Develop supporting materials, such as audio and video content, simulations, and games.
  • Create assessment tools, like tests and quizzes, to evaluate course effectiveness and learner knowledge acquisition.
  • Identify outdated or low-quality learning content and recommend improvements or replacements.
  • Maintain project documentation, version control, and course folder organization.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models.
  • Strong lesson and curriculum planning skills.
  • Familiarity with multiple web design technologies (HTML) and multimedia formats (jpg, mp4, mp3).
  • Visual design skills, including proficiency in Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • Ability to craft compelling copy, instructional text, audio, and video scripts.
  • Relevant degree in instructional design, educational technology, or a related field.
  • Certification in Instructional Design is an asset.
