Software Engineer Role in Open Source and Linux

We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our global team working on the development of open source software and operating systems. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about innovation, technology, and collaboration.

As a Software Engineer at our company, you will be part of a dynamic team that is shaping the future of open source technology. You will work closely with other engineers and developers to design, develop, and maintain high-quality software products that meet the needs of our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop software components using various programming languages such as Python, Rust, C/C++, Golang, JavaScript, and Java.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements.
  • Work closely with users and the open source community through code reviews and issue trackers.
  • Respond to customer issues and develop an understanding of enterprise requirements.
  • Develop skills and awareness of security in software design and implementation.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university.
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Mathematics, or another STEM discipline with programming courses.
  • Confidence to get started and deliver high-quality code in one of the above-mentioned programming languages.
  • Experience with Ubuntu or another Linux distribution.
  • Track record of going above-and-beyond expectations to achieve outstanding results.
  • Result-oriented and organized, with the drive to meet commitments.
  • Personal projects in technology and software engineering beyond the curriculum.
  • Professional written and spoken English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
  • Personal responsibility and accountability.
  • Thoughtfulness, self-awareness, and the ability to reflect and develop.
  • Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeks long.
