Job Title:

A System Support Specialist role has become available at a leading open source company.

Job Description

The position deals with complex customer problems related to Linux, kernel, and other open source software. You will help troubleshoot and drive issues to resolution by providing workarounds, guidance, and bug fixes to be released upstream and in the operating system.

The ideal candidate should have an exceptional academic record, background in computer science or similar field, experience with Linux and open source software, and knowledge of at least one programming language such as Python, Go, C, or C++. Experience with containerization, virtualization, and distributed systems is also desirable.

You should have interest in, or willingness to learn about any of the following: Ubuntu Linux, Kubernetes, OpenStack, Ceph, QEMU/KVM, LXC/LXD, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Debian packaging.

  • Resolve complex customer problems related to Linux, kernel, and other open source software.
  • Maintain close working relationships with engineering teams.
  • Develop bug fixes and patches.
  • Review code produced by other engineers.
