Developer Relations Engineer

This role is part of the Developer Relations team at Canonical, responsible for engaging directly with open source communities and developer-centric organizations.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to product meetings, strategy discussions, and day-by-day development progress.
  • Maintain conversations with community members on various platforms.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in other teams to establish commonality and consistent approaches.
  • Solve technical problems identified by users or colleagues.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation to meet user needs.
  • Create technical articles, presentations, and workshops.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in the developer experience.
  • Present at conferences, meetups, or technical events.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Programming skills: Proficiency in programming languages, including Linux software packaging.
  • Open-source contributions: Experience contributing to open-source communities, software, and documentation.
  • Communication skills: Engaging, vivacious speaker and presenter with effective communication skills.
  • Problem-solving skills: Ability to work effectively, tactfully, empathetically, and confidently in diverse contexts.
  • Travel requirements: Willingness to travel globally twice a year for company events and upstream/partner events.
