About this role:

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Backend Developer to play a critical role in designing, developing and maintaining robust backend systems and APIs that power scalable, high-performing applications.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in Python, SQL and AWS technologies, with additional expertise in geospatial data and observability tools.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop and maintain scalable, high-performance backend systems and APIs.
  • Develop and manage public-facing APIs, ensuring secure, reliable and efficient access.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support continuous integration and deployment.
  • Implement observability practices using tools such as Datadog, New Relic or similar.
  • Collaborate with frontend developers, product teams and stakeholders to align backend architecture with product needs.
  • Work with PostgreSQL and PostGIS for advanced SQL and geospatial data management.
  • Develop and deploy solutions within AWS environments (API Gateway, Lambda, Serverless Stack).
  • Support microservices-based architectures and event-driven workflows (e.g., webhooks).
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of backend software development experience, including building public-facing API products.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, with expertise in frameworks such as Flask or FastAPI.
  • High proficiency in SQL and PostgreSQL, with experience in geospatial extensions such as PostGIS.
  • Solid understanding of full-stack technologies required to build and run APIs.
  • Skilled in RESTful API design and management, ensuring scalability and performance.
  • Hands-on experience working with AWS services, including API Gateway, Lambda and the Serverless Stack.
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and event-driven technologies such as webhooks.
  • Experience integrating spatial mapping libraries like Mapbox or working with GIS concepts relevant to utility networks.
  • Production-level experience with observability tools such as Datadog or New Relic.
Nice to Have:
  • Familiarity with geospatial data formats such as GeoJSON, shapefiles or KMZ.
  • Understanding telecom or utility network planning and deployment workflows.
