Responsibilities:- Handle a high volume of phone calls and maintain accurate patient records
- Maintain daily work queues and documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Provide technical assistance with agency issues, services, and programs
- Maintain and create files for recordkeeping systems, adhering to confidentiality and data protection protocols
- Sort, label, electronically file, and retrieve documents or other materials as needed
- Collect and review patient information to determine eligibility for various programs
- Complete online applications using secure portals
- Prepare and review documents for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with regulations and guidelines
- Communicate clearly, promptly, and positively with patients, coworkers, and clients, maintaining a professional demeanor at all times
- Maintain confidentiality at all times, adhering to HIPAA, PHI, and HITEC regulations
- Exemplify the organization's mission, vision, and core values in all personal and professional settings, serving as a role model to colleagues and associates
- Collaborate with supervisor to identify learning needs and set goals, utilizing available resources to enhance skills and knowledge
- Maintain up-to-date working knowledge of departmental and hospital policies and procedures, participating in updates and other communication provided
- Support team members through teamwork and acceptance of additional assignments, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment
- High school diploma or equivalent educational level
- Proficiency in computer software and systems, including EMRs
- Ability to quickly grasp and navigate multiple systems effectively
- At least one year of combined experience working and training as a Patient Advocate or related roles
- Working knowledge of relevant regulations, including HIPAA, FDCPA, and Red Flags
- Considerable knowledge of Medicaid programs and the Federal Marketplace
- General knowledge of agency and community programs and services that may impact clients and applicants
- Ability to multitask, communicate effectively, and work well in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Capacity to perform job functions within structured time frames, meeting deadlines and delivering results
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with high accuracy, maintaining attention to detail and quality
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
- Professional attitude and composure in urgent or confrontational situations
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Team player attitude
- Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with on-site hospital staff
- Experience with Epic Software is an asset
