Accounting Specialist Role

The accounting specialist plays a key role in delivering exceptional client service by ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of full-service accounting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Transaction Processing: Assist in coding all transactions from each account according to established processes, matching transactions, cross-checking and reviewing rules, and suggesting coding for recurring transactions.
  • Reconciliation: Assist with end-of-month reconciliation process for assigned client accounts, including reviewing weekly uncleared transactions, pulling account statements, performing reconciliations, and researching issues.
  • Credit Card Reconciliations: Assist in performing reconciliation of credit cards for assigned clients, pulling statements, creating individual lists, dividing charges, suggesting and cross-checking coding, and creating templates for upload to accounting software.
  • Monthly Financial Review: Write emails to clients following up on routine income or expenses not recorded for the current month, cross-checking financial statements and activity for accuracy, and assisting in responding to client questions regarding transaction coding decisions and accuracy.
  • Payroll Recording: Record payroll transactions for clients, using templates to create journal entries, uploading entries to accounting software (and/or cloud-based solutions), booking benefit bills, and cross-checking amounts in clearing accounts.
  • Accounting Cleanup: Assist with clean-up and review of revenue coding, payroll, balance sheet accounts, and other items as requested by team members, demonstrating strong familiarity with accounting best practices, attention to detail, and efficient issue-resolution skills.

This role requires strong written communication skills, intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, excellent problem-solving skills, and experience in accounting software.

Preferred qualifications include experience in cloud-based accounting solutions, understanding of property management accounting, familiarity with industry-standard charts of accounts, and experience in payroll processing and prior experience with financial auditing or financial review.
