Data Analyst — Data Validation Specialist

Our company is seeking a highly skilled professional to fill the position of Data Analyst – Data Validation Specialist. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of our data by designing and implementing validation frameworks, testing data integrity, and troubleshooting any issues that may arise.

In this dynamic and challenging role, you will work closely with our data engineers to develop and maintain data-quality standards, build automated testing scripts, and create quality dashboards to monitor data performance. Your strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate complex ideas effectively will be invaluable assets to our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement data-quality rules, test cases, and acceptance criteria for migrated and incremental loads in Databricks.
  • Bulk automated testing using PySpark/SQL tests and Great Expectations (or dbt tests) notebooks; schedule them with ADF pipelines and alerts.
  • Triage and resolve data defects, work with data engineers to remediate and re-run pipelines, and verify fixes in lower and production tiers.
  • Create quality dashboards and SLA monitors in Power BI and Databricks SQL, surfacing metrics like freshness, nulls, and schema drift.
  • Maintain validation playbooks, data dictionaries, and quality KPIs; evangelize best practices across migration squads.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in data-quality/validation work, including at least one Azure lakehouse or migration project.
  • Azure Databricks (PySpark, Delta Lake), Azure Data Factory, Great Expectations/dbt tests, Advanced SQL, Python for data testing & automation, Power BI (or Tableau) for analytics & visualization.
  • Deep understanding of data-quality dimensions and root-cause analysis, CI/CD for data tests, Agile/Scrum methodologies.
