Your role and work environment

Within ING, a Data Quality Pillar has been established to ensure that ING Bank has trustable data that is fully fit for purpose (timely, complete, accurate, adoptable, comprehensive, consistent, and appropriate), facilitated by a state-of-the-art data architecture and IT infrastructure.

As part of the Vortex Data Operations team, you are the single point of contact for all Vortex-related questions. The team's objective is to ensure that credit risk data is loaded correctly and displayed timely in the system. You will operate in a diverse and multicultural environment, so it's essential to be comfortable dealing with stakeholders at all levels.

Your key responsibilities

  1. Monitoring data loads and following up on end-of-month and daily deliveries
  2. Providing support for data delivery and data availability questions
  3. Running and maintaining existing SQL or SAS monitoring solutions, and updating them as needed
  4. Developing solutions in SQL/SAS for monitoring purposes
  5. Distributing production data files for support initiatives
  6. Coordinating and facilitating test cycles for data delivery changes
  7. Advising on flow setup, cross-reference setup, and static data maintenance procedures for new data deliveries
  8. Testing delivered information for completeness and accuracy
  9. Supporting data delivery change management questions
  10. Collecting source data and obtaining approvals from local sources
  11. Generating data extracts using MS Excel, Macros, and Access
  12. Performing sanity checks on collected data
  13. Analyzing data trends for quality improvements
  14. Collaborating with colleagues in Amsterdam to address current data quality issues and plan remediation
  15. Coordinating and communicating with local units on next steps for improvements
  16. Continuously improving work processes and contributing to ING's Agile Way of Working and the Orange Code

ING is looking for:

An energetic and driven data management or data operations expert with strong analytical skills, passionate about using advanced methods for data analysis. You possess comprehensive knowledge in Data Analysis within Risk and Finance domains.

You are an excellent communicator, capable of bridging gaps between stakeholders, proposing solutions convincingly, and working collaboratively to resolve complex issues. Your contributions will help deliver standardized, uniform, and tailored solutions for business challenges.

Skills required

  • College degree in Mathematics, Informatics, Econometrics, Computer/Data Science, Information Management, or Statistics
  • Proven experience with SQL, SAS Base, and/or SAS Enterprise Guide
  • Knowledge in data management, extraction, analysis, and report creation using SQL, SAS, MS Excel, or MS Access
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior business stakeholders
  • Service-minded attitude and a passion for helping others
  • Strong communication skills to articulate analyses and ideas
  • Proactive, eager to learn, and committed to continuous improvement
  • Knowledge of risk concepts, policies, and the financial sector is desirable
  • Affinity for technology and quick learner of new tools
  • Cross-domain knowledge and experience
  • Experience with PowerBI, Tableau, R, SQL is a plus
  • Responsibility and accountability in completing tasks
  • Open to seeking help, giving feedback, and working independently or in teams
