System Software Engineer Position Overview

This is a highly sought-after software engineer role focusing on developer experience tooling and containerization.

The selected candidate will work on a groundbreaking open-source product that integrates deeply with Ubuntu desktop, modern integrated development environments, and software development kits from prominent publishers like NVIDIA, Intel, AMD, and others.

  • The goal of this project is to liberate developers from tedious environment setup across multiple industry domains such as robotics, machine learning operations, the Internet of Things.
Key Responsibilities and Expectations
  • Design user-friendly interfaces for new features in the tool
  • Develop high-quality code to create new functionalities
  • Emphasize correctness and robustness in your work for diverse use cases
  • Ensure that the software you develop addresses well-defined problems
  • Carefully consider implementation strategy from performance, quality, and security perspectives
  • Collaborate effectively with teams within and outside the organization
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Professional experience in software development using Go, Python, C, or C++ programming languages
  • Fundamental knowledge of Linux system-level concepts, including cgroups and namespaces

  • A strong academic track record from both high school and university
  • An undergraduate degree in a technical field or an engaging narrative about your alternative path
  • Confidence to express opinions, exchange feedback, and share ideas freely
  • Excellent written and spoken English, along with presentation skills
  • Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeks long
Nice-to-have Skills
  • Experience with LXC/LXD
  • Knowledge of AI/ML and/or CUDA/OpenVINO
  • Understanding of system and language package managers internals
