Senior Design Manager Role

This key leadership position oversees a team of design managers, ensuring all projects meet standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Team Leadership & Development: Communicates strategic objectives, evaluates team performance, and provides coaching to ensure optimal growth.
  • Design Review & Compliance: Verifies that all designs, documents, and plans adhere to established standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Consultant Coordination: Oversees consultant submissions, fee proposals, and ensures technical specifications align with industry standards.
  • Procurement & Budgeting: Reviews quotations, bids, and estimates for accuracy and compliance; secures management approvals and monitors cost control.
  • Project Monitoring & Site Inspections: Tracks project timelines, budgets, and implementation quality; conducts site inspections and ensures adherence to approved designs.
  • Billing & Documentation: Assesses supplier billings, ensures proper documentation, and manages project close-out procedures.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Issue Resolution: Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders, attends meetings, resolves project issues, and disseminates design updates.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree is an asset.
  • Professional license or certification preferred.
  • Proven experience in managing multiple design and construction projects.
  • Advanced knowledge in design planning, value engineering, and building technologies.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and other design software; familiar with industry drafting standards.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams and mentoring design managers.
  • Strong communication and decision-making skills across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Skilled in reviewing technical specifications, drawings, and site implementation.
  • Ensures proper documentation, billing processes, and project close-out procedures.
  • Ability to align design initiatives with corporate goals.
