Job Description

The General Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.

This role involves a variety of accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance. This position covers Australia / New Zealand and the United States, with Australia being the main focus (80%).

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain and update general ledgers, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Assistance with preparation of ad hoc & monthly reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP or IFRS) and company policies.
  • Assistance with treatment of prepayments, accruals & capitalization.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Verifying Payables entries to the correct subsidiary, department, and location.
  • Reporting on Payables & Receivables, assisting both the AP & AR departments in reporting, complete with days outstanding calculations.

Key Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA certification or equivalent (preferred).
  • Proven experience in general accounting or a related field.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Australian standards is optimal, NZ & US additional.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (i.e. Oracle NetSuite preferred) and MS Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
