Lead Accountant for Invoicing and Vendor Relations

Job Description:

As a key member of our accounting team, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and reconciliations, ensuring compliance with financial standards and contributing to accurate financial reporting.

The ideal candidate will bring technical accounting expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and a continuous improvement mindset. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Process and manage a high volume of invoices, ensuring accurate coding and approval in accordance with company policies.
  2. Review and verify vendor invoices against contracts and receipts to ensure accuracy and compliance
  3. Handle complex invoice discrepancies and vendor payment issues, working directly with vendors and internal departments to resolve.
  4. Assist in the preparation of payment runs, ensuring all payments are processed on time and in line with vendor agreements.
  5. Maintain and update vendor information, ensuring accuracy of records in the accounts payable system.
  6. Support the month-end and year-end closing processes, including the preparation of accruals, journal entries, and reconciliations for accounts payable.
  7. Ensure VAT, WHT, and income tax compliance in line with local regulations.

Qualifications and competencies required include:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Active CPA license.
  • 5+ years of experience in AP accounting or related financial roles, with at least 2 years in a senior or independent role and a focus on international transactions.
  • Strong understanding of AP processes, accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial controls.
  • Strong understanding of local and/or US GAAP and financial accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, etc.).
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate across departments and manage vendor relationships.
  • Proven track record in process improvements and mentoring junior colleagues.
  • Proficiency in English at a B2 level or higher.
