U.S. Accounting Manager

As a seasoned accounting professional, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective accounting policies and procedures. This includes managing day-to-day accounting operations, overseeing month-end closes, and collaborating with finance and accounting leads to ensure seamless client support.
You will have direct ownership over close processes, interact with clients on a regular basis, and work cross-functionally with various teams. Your expertise in QuickBooks Online, Netsuite, or similar systems will be invaluable in streamlining our accounting processes.
In this role, you will be exposed to and eventually lead additional areas of responsibility such as People Operations and FP&A. We encourage you to explore new ideas, challenge the status quo, and contribute to our innovative work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vendor Management: Review invoices for proper coding, provide guidance to staff, and oversee 1099 checks on a quarterly basis.
- Accounts Receivable (AR) and Cash Management: Oversee AR cycle, review weekly cash flow forecasts, communicate changes/differences, and monitor cash flow to make recommendations to clients.
- Daily Bookkeeping: Manage weekly transaction cycles, maintain organization of data room, and ensure accurate financial records.
- People: Facilitate transition of support staff on clients, review and approve payroll processing, and ensure compliance with client payroll schedules.
- Month-End Close: Review bank and credit card reconciliations, run lead on month-end close procedures, and investigate variances to make journal entry corrections as needed.
- Compliance: Review compliance filings, assist accountants with annual tax returns and audits, and manage year-end 1099 filings.
- Communication and Teamwork: Maintain timely and proactive communication with clients and team members, manage accounting inboxes, and respond to escalated inquiries where needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, and/or Finance required.
- 5+ years of relevant U.S. work experience.
- CPA and/or MBA is a plus.
- Experience in QuickBooks Online, Netsuite, or similar systems required.
- Advanced Excel skills required.
- Experience in eCommerce highly preferred.
- Inventory accounting experience required.
- Ability to work efficiently in a remote environment, plan ahead, and anticipate personal, client, and team needs.
- Excellent communication skills, business acumen, analytical and problem-solving skills.
