Job Title: Category Management Strategist

We are seeking a skilled Category Management Strategist to lead our category management team in defining a strategic approach to procurement.

  • Define and implement a strategic approach to procurement, segmenting spending on bought-in goods and services into discrete groups depending on function.
  • Own the sourcing strategy for leverage, bottleneck, and routine categories, ensuring alignment with business objectives and requirements.
  • Work with Business Partners to gather business needs, including short- and long-term volume projections and potential opportunities.
  • Penetrate and align business and operational needs.
  • Identify linkages and leverage multiple suppliers, materials, supply chains, and business units.
  • Serve as a liaison and partner to business teams.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closure of strategic sourcing projects/initiatives.
  • Lead ad-hoc teams created to identify and implement sourcing strategies supported by Sourcing Support Services and Supplier Relationship Support Units.
  • Execute RFPs as Project Manager in the execution of approved strategies.
  • Ensure timely execution of approved strategies.
  • Conduct should-cost and TCO analysis as input to sourcing evaluation.
  • Provide industry/market intelligence.
  • Build category analyses.
  • Conduct spend analysis and benchmarking.
  • Analyze results of industry & supplier analysis provided by Supplier Relationship Support.
  • Collaborate with Sourcing Support Teams to develop RFPs for strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively across joint sourcing strategy leaders and organizations.
  • Bring category and functional knowledge.
  • Collaborate with proponents and Sourcing Support Teams on RFP development.
  • Obtain approval from Strategy owners.
  • Own the supplier relationship management process and collaborate with the Supplier Relationship Support Unit.
  • Monitor effectiveness of strategy results vs. targets.
  • Report regularly to Strategy owners and Management on results of strategy vs. targets.
  • Co-own Supplier Relationship Management with Strategy owners.
  • Provide inputs to Supplier Relationship Support during supplier performance evaluation.
  • Establish goals, milestones, and performance metrics for suppliers.
  • Build appropriate supplier collaborative relationships in conjunction with proponents.
