Medical File Reviewer Job Description

We are seeking a Medical File Reviewer to join our team. As a Medical File Reviewer, you will be responsible for reviewing medical files and assisting medical providers in evaluating veteran cases.

This role involves preparing case files and Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs), reviewing and bookmarking medical records, creating a synopsis to answer medical opinion questions based on the veteran's medical history, remotely assisting medical providers during scheduled appointments, meeting with medical providers to discuss cases, determining final diagnoses, and approving medical opinions.

  • Prepare case files and DBQs assigned through the client portal.
  • Review and bookmark medical records, creating a synopsis to answer medical opinion questions based on the veteran's medical history.
  • Remotely assist medical providers during scheduled appointments by accessing apps, interviewing veterans, transcribing medical history, documenting findings, and completing DBQ spreadsheets.
  • Meet with medical providers to discuss cases, determine final diagnoses, and approve medical opinions.
  • Transfer data from DBQ spreadsheets to the client portal and submit completed DBQs.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree and active PHRN license.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with veterans, medical providers, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and flexibility in adjusting work schedules as needed.
  • Accountability for all assigned cases and proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Assist the Lead and/or Trainer in process improvement and create process-related templates as needed.

  • Backup internet with minimum 15 Mbps download and upload speeds.
  • Main desktop/laptop: Intel i5–i7, 8 GB RAM; 4th generation or newer.
