
Policy Governance Specialist

The Policy Governance Specialist serves as the organizational linchpin for policy management, overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies across various departments and functions.
This critical role ensures that all policies are current, systematically reviewed, and fully compliant with applicable standards and regulations. The specialist works closely with leadership to support organizational readiness by maintaining review timelines, coordinating compliance meetings, and ensuring timely completion of required reports.
Main Responsibilities:- Policy Curation & Compliance
- Serve as the lead curator of all policies and procedures, maintaining an indexed, up-to-date master library of current policies and archived versions.
- Track and enforce review cycles (e.g., annual, biennial) and coordinate timely updates and re-approvals.
- Ensure that all policies reflect current practices and are compliant with applicable laws, regulations, and accrediting standards.
- Policy Development & Stakeholder Engagement
- Draft new policies and procedures based on leadership directives, operational goals, or changes in regulatory requirements.
- Distribute draft documents to relevant stakeholders for feedback and incorporate suggested changes.
- Proactively follow up with team members or departments that have not responded to ensure timely input.
- Regulatory Reporting Oversight
- Maintain a comprehensive calendar of all required reports (monthly, quarterly, annually) for licensing, funding, and accreditation entities.
- Coordinate with assigned departments to ensure timely generation and submission of all required documentation.
- Governance & Compliance Meetings
- Schedule recurring meetings for compliance, quality assurance, performance improvement, and risk management.
- Create agendas, track attendance, document minutes, and follow up on action items.
- Policy Inquiry Response & Gap Resolution
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal questions or requests for clarification regarding existing policies and procedures.
- Review current policy and procedure documents to provide accurate responses and guidance to staff at all levels of the organization.
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Policy, Legal Studies, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- 3–5 years of experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, or policy management within a healthcare or behavioral health organization.
- Familiarity with Joint Commission, Arizona DHS, and applicable labor and healthcare regulations.
- Strong technical writing, policy drafting, and document control skills.
- Ability to work independently and cross-functionally across HR, operations, and clinical teams.
- Proficient with cloud-based document systems, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and project tracking platforms.
This is a remote full-time opportunity with competitive compensation ($7-$8/hr).
