Job Description

An IT Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining and securing the organisation's IT infrastructure, focusing on Windows environments, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Azure, Intune, Defender and Purview.


Responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP.
  • Oversee and administer Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams.
  • Configure and manage Entra ID (Azure Active Directory) for identity and access management.
  • Deploy and optimise Microsoft Intune for endpoint management and security.
  • Support and maintain cloud infrastructure within Azure, including virtual machines, networking and security configurations.
  • Implement and manage Microsoft Defender for endpoint, identity and cloud security.
  • Work with Microsoft Purview to ensure compliance, data governance and security policies.
  • Assist in implementing security best practices, vulnerability management and patching strategies.
  • Provide technical support for escalated infrastructure-related incidents and service requests.
  • Monitor system performance, availability and security through proactive monitoring tools.
  • Ensure regular backups and disaster recovery plans are in place and tested.
  • Automate IT processes using PowerShell, Azure Automation and other scripting tools.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, ARM templates or similar.
  • Drive continuous improvement and optimisation of IT infrastructure and cloud resources.

Requirements
  • Strong understanding of Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams.
  • Experience with Entra ID (Azure Active Directory) for identity and access management.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Intune for endpoint management and security.
  • Skills in cloud infrastructure management within Azure, including virtual machines, networking and security configurations.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Defender for endpoint, identity and cloud security.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Purview for compliance, data governance and security policies.
  • Ability to implement security best practices, vulnerability management and patching strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills for providing technical support and incident resolution.
  • Able to monitor system performance, availability and security through proactive monitoring tools.
  • Skilled in automating IT processes using PowerShell, Azure Automation and other scripting tools.
