Job Description

The Crewing Manager/Superintendent oversees the overall supervision of the activities within the Crewing Department.

Key responsibilities include attending to and initiating appropriate actions for all communications and crew requirements of assigned Principals, as well as supervising the implementation of Crewing department procedures.

Manning decisions concerning crewing requirements made by the Principal's Office/Management must be implemented by the Crewing Manager/Superintendent.

A Crew Plan is maintained in anticipation of crew requirements, while directing and monitoring requirements of Principals in coordination with the Recruitment Department.

In addition, the Crewing Manager/Superintendent assists in seafarer sourcing/pooling activities and monitors market salaries, pension, and welfare schemes.

Crew familiarity with Principal CMS is ensured through briefing and debriefing of signing on and off seafarers.

Evaluating Seafarer's Feedback Form for off-signers' crew and relaying to Principals as needed is also a key responsibility.

Reviewing sign-off crew performance appraisal during sea duties for crew planning and promotion suggestion to Principals is another critical task.

Motivating vessel personnel for continuous improvement and encouraging enhancement of performance are also important aspects of the role.

Recommending KPIs for the better monitoring of departmental objectives to Head Office and monitoring of performance statistics are additional responsibilities.

Coordination and consultation with concerned personnel on all matters having a direct or indirect relationship to Crewing Department is required.

Assisting crew and families and taking part in resolving employment disputes with seafarers and their representatives are also essential tasks.

Supervising planning, monitoring, scheduling, and assignment of fleet staff to ships in compliance with CMS procedures and requirements is another critical duty.

Participating in Emergency Response Team and Management review meetings are also key responsibilities.

Monitoring progress of crew medical and legal cases and reporting to General Manager are also required tasks.

Ensuring enrolment and maintaining Maritime English Test in VIRSEC – CC, conducting technical and final interviews are additional responsibilities.
