As a skilled Construction Estimator, you will play a vital role in Virtual Assist's success by analyzing drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for construction projects. Your strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with estimating software will enable you to provide accurate and reliable estimates that meet the needs of our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review architectural and engineering drawings, project plans, and specifications to ensure they are complete and accurate.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor work using your knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
  • Analyze historical data and pricing trends to improve the accuracy of estimates and identify potential risks.
  • Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and vendors to ensure the best possible value for our clients.
  • Develop and maintain a database of unit costs, productivity rates, and supplier pricing to streamline the estimating process.
  • Participate in bid reviews and risk analysis discussions to ensure that all stakeholders are informed and aligned.
  • Coordinate with project managers to transition awarded projects into production smoothly and efficiently.
  • Assist in value engineering and cost-saving strategies to optimize project outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for all estimates to facilitate future reference and decision-making.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Construction Estimator (3+ years preferred) with a strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
  • Experience with estimating in residential, commercial, civil, industrial construction, including familiarity with local building codes and permit processes.
  • Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., ProEst, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Sage Estimating) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills, with the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical documents.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with remote collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom, Slack, Trello) and LEED certification or knowledge of sustainable building practices.
