About the Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Project Estimator to join our team in a remote capacity. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project requirements, and providing pricing strategies that support decision-making and project success. You will collaborate with project managers, engineers, vendors, and clients to ensure estimates align with scope, timelines, and budget objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to determine project scope and requirements.
  • Prepare accurate and timely cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
  • Analyze data, risks, and trends to support reliable cost projections.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to clarify project details.
  • Develop and maintain cost databases, pricing models, and historical records for future reference.
  • Provide value engineering options to optimize project costs without compromising quality.
  • Prepare bid proposals and present estimates to management and clients.
  • Track actual project costs versus estimated costs to improve forecasting accuracy.
  • Stay updated on industry pricing, market conditions, and vendor rates.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in [Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or related field] is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Project Estimator (preferably in [construction/engineering/manufacturing/IT projects – adjust depending on industry]).
  • Australian experience is necessary
  • Experience in Estimating / BOQ software (Bluebeam, Plansoft, etc) is necessary
  • Strong understanding of cost estimation techniques, financial analysis, and project management principles.
  • Proficiency in estimation software, spreadsheets, and project management tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, contracts, and specifications.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Self-motivated and highly organized, with the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • A portfolio of past work is required.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Familiarity with [specific industry tools/software, e.g., Bluebeam, Procore, PlanSwift, AutoCAD, or others].
  • Experience working in a remote, distributed team.
  • Certification in cost estimating (e.g., AACE, ASPE) is a plus.
