Senior Financial Operations Specialist

Job Overview

This role oversees the financial reporting process, ensuring key targets are met in conformity with established initiatives.

Accountable for providing regulatory reports, including financial statements and tailored shareholder reports as part of the N-CSR filing. Supports global offices, maintaining quality and timeliness while monitoring and overseeing critical aspects.

Responsibilities

• Financial Reporting: manage monthly production schedule and ensure timely completion in accordance with corporate targets.
• Assist business units with scheduling and managing workflows for financial statement and tailored shareholder production.
• Prepare and review financial statements for mutual funds, including statement of assets and liabilities, statement of operations, changes in net assets, cash flows, financial highlights, and notes.
• Support team members with implementing complex accounting or regulatory developments.
• Coordinate centralized tasks required in report preparation and audit processes.
• Identify and implement improvements opportunities to streamline end-to-end processes for Fund Reporting using Alteryx.

Operational Support

• Own controls to escalate and resolve issues in a timely manner.
• Provide support and training to junior team members on knowledge, processes, and reporting requirements.
• Drive initiatives to oversee planning, implementation, and tracking of short-term projects.
• Resolve critical operational issues and monitor control efficacy to minimize risk.
• Support ad-hoc analysis to identify root causes of production problems and develop timely solutions.

Stakeholder Management

• Communicate effectively with global stakeholders and establish credibility with business unit contacts.
• Identify opportunities to refine operational effectiveness of processes and controls.
• Escalate service issues from customers and stakeholders.
• Communicate significant production updates and challenges to management and the business unit.

Leadership/Management

• Drive the team to achieve organizational goals; perform People Manager responsibilities including performance management and development of staff.
• Lead activities to maintain high engagement and conduct regular business reviews with dashboards and metrics on performance, productivity, utilization, and attendance.
• Ensure Service Level Agreements and GBS compliance standards are met at all times.
• Improve training policies and guidelines; optimize resource utilization and ensure appropriate headcount and skills alignment with business needs.

Special Projects

Handle projects requiring strong financial knowledge, analytics, and organizational skills, including new services, products, and processes introduced by management.

Required Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of the mutual fund industry, including accounting for mutual funds.
• University degree in accounting, finance, or economics; CPA, CFA, CISI, or CAT passer preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in financial services or shared services; more than 3 years in a people management role.
• Experience working with senior management, stakeholder management, relationship building, and negotiation skills.
• Strong understanding of end-to-end production environments and the impact of changes to reporting, production schedules, and supported systems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and influencing skills.
• Ability to stay updated on evolving regulatory landscape and risk management topics.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal skills with cross-cultural effectiveness; excellent English communication.
• Proficiency with FundSuite Arc and Bloomberg Terminal.
• Excel expertise (pivot tables, formulas); VBA a plus; proficient in MS Office.
• Ability to build a business case for process improvements, including cost/benefit analysis.
