Job Overview

The Fleet Maintenance Manager is accountable for providing expert guidance on passenger and commercial vehicle maintenance, managing customer and dealer queries, and facilitating resolution with internal and external stakeholders.

This role demands exceptional customer service skills, negotiation abilities, and problem-solving skills to resolve non-standard repair queries from customers and suppliers.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Respond to high-volume customer/dealer inquiries and facilitate resolution through liaison with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service via telephone or email.
  • Negotiate positive outcomes daily over the telephone or email.
  • Solve non-standard repair queries from customers and suppliers based on mechanical knowledge and vehicle types.
  • Process supplier invoices on time.
  • Offer email support to driver products as required.
  • Issue work authorities to repairers/suppliers daily.
  • Authorise and oversee repairs within set guidelines and issue precise instructions given to repairers/suppliers regarding work to be carried out.
  • Correctly code invoices with actual prices for each job indicated.
  • Accurately process repair invoices once all repair codes are entered with the correct repair amounts.
  • Perform administrative duties, including filing, processing, redirection of repair send back letters, and accounts inquiries/setups, while keeping all paperwork up to date.
Requirements:

This role requires:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Packages
  • Minimum 4 years of experience as a mechanic with extensive experience across light vehicles, trucks, and other specialised commercial vehicles
  • Numerical skills and some knowledge of accounts procedures
  • Working knowledge of a Service Department in car dealerships or general repairs

Preferred skills include:

  • Familiarity with an office environment
  • Familiarity with repair costing structures
  • General knowledge of how to obtain information relating to standard repair times (Manufacturer & SSA)
  • Heavy/Commercial Vehicle Experience
  • Automotive Trade Certificate
