Job Description

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineering Manager to lead our team in delivering high-quality services to our users. As a key member of our Information Systems team, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of our infrastructure as code.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize projects, manage timelines, and ensure successful delivery. Your expertise in Linux operations, software engineering, and team leadership will be instrumental in driving our devops and gitops engineering management initiatives forward.

Our team runs services used by over 60 million Ubuntu users, and we take pride in pioneering and proving new approaches to large-scale Information Systems. We support Canonical's managed application service offerings, raising the bar on devops and cloud-native operations.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with the latest technologies, including Kubernetes, kernel, and more, in a fast-paced engineering environment. You will lead a team in your time zone, reporting to a global director who may not be in your time zone.

Responsibilities
  • Lead daily agile devops practices and represent the IS team to stakeholders, customers, and internal teams
  • Organize, coordinate, and drive internal projects, mentoring engineers to improve their skills
  • Identify and measure team health indicators, implementing structured engineering and operations processes
  • Ensure proper team focus on priorities, milestones, and deliverables, meeting service level agreements with customer deployments around the globe
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • A proven track record of driving above-and-beyond expectations and experience managing devops teams for SAAS or similar offerings
  • Understanding of testing methodologies and maintainable code quality, technical aptitude for understanding complex distributed systems
  • Experience with cloud topologies and technologies, with nice-to-have skills including Ubuntu system administration, agile software development methodologies, and experience working in and managing distributed teams
Location

This role will be based remotely in the APAC region.
