Financial Reporting Specialist Role

About the Opportunity

We are a lithium extraction company looking for an experienced Accountant to join our team. This role will report to our Accounting Manager and work closely with the entire domestic and international accounting and finance organization.

The ideal candidate takes ownership and pride in their work, intentionally seeking out opportunities to learn and improve. Additionally, the ideal candidate works and communicates effectively with all levels of management and is comfortable working independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the month-end close through preparation of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules on a timely basis.
  • Assist the Accounting Manager with consolidations, including reviewing financials, eliminations, and financial statement reports in NetSuite for external reporting compliance.
  • Help manage business travel and expense platform Navan by ensuring policy compliance and accurate coding of transactions.
  • Maintain fixed asset subledger and propose additions and disposals.
  • Analyze and provide commentary on monthly Balance Sheet and P&L account balances.
  • Support billing department during month-end close and ensure timely payments and purchase order exceptions are resolved.
  • Interact with department managers (Finance, People, Legal, International) to support accounting goals.
  • Contribute to critical accounting policies creation and maintenance.
  • Support annual financial statement audit by providing documentation and responding promptly and accurately to inquiries.
  • Assist with system implementations, technical analysis, and projects as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting or CPA certification.
  • Proficient understanding of US GAAP and technical accounting.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of General Ledger accounting experience, including account reconciliation and analysis.
  • Experience in month-end processes.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility and willingness to pitch in with assorted tasks.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel and Word.
  • Willingness to work Pacific Time Zone hours.

Preferred Requirements:

  • CPA certification.
  • Public accounting experience with a global firm.
  • Experience working with external audit firms.
  • Experience with financial statement preparation.
  • International accounting experience, including consolidations and foreign currency transactions.
  • Experience with systems such as NetSuite, Coupa, FloQast.
  • Experience in the mining industry and manufacturing.
