About Senior Accountant Role

This senior accountant position involves extensive experience in US non-profit accounting, encompassing financial reporting and compliance. The role demands remote part-time work with responsibilities spanning close processes, audits, and more.

Key Responsibilities
  • Record and verify transactions to ensure accounting information integrity
  • Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information
  • Maintain the general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries
  • Summarize financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close responsibilities and ensure team members stay on track
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to optimize process efficiency
  • Ensure deadlines and controls are met according to policies and procedures
  • Manage proper deliverables to external auditors during annual audits and quarterly reviews
  • Lead internal audit engagements
  • Complete external audit tasks by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors
  • Avoid legal challenges by complying with legal requirements
  • Secure financial information by completing database backups
  • Protect the organization's financial information
  • Assist with month-end close and other projects as needed
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting and over seven years of experience
  • Extensive experience in US non-profit accounting, including reporting and compliance (tax)
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS
  • Certified Public Accountant certification is a plus
  • Experience in a Big 4 firm is a plus
  • Strong MS Excel skills
  • Experience developing financial reports and metrics
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with various management levels
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a changing environment
  • Strong Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills
  • Superior attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining the big picture
