Job Description:

The primary objective of this role is to oversee and maintain accurate financial records, ensuring timely preparation of reports, and guaranteeing compliance with relevant accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements. This position involves a diverse range of accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.

This position will focus on Australia/New Zealand and the United States, with Australia being the main area of focus (80%).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update general ledgers, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Assistance with the preparation of ad hoc & monthly reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP or IFRS) and company policies.
  • Assistance with treatment of prepayments, accruals, and capitalization.

Accounts Payable & Receivable:

  • Verifies payables entries to the correct subsidiary, department, and location.
  • Reporting on payables & receivables, assisting both the AP & AR departments in reporting, complete with days outstanding calculations.

Reconciliations & Analysis:

  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Reconcile subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost control.
  • Project (costs) Accounting.
  • Manage the AP Team's credit card processing & refinements.

Compliance & Audit Support:

  • Prepare documentation and schedules for internal and external audits.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for regulatory reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA certification or equivalent (preferred).
  • Proven experience in general accounting or a related field.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Australian standards is optimal, NZ & US additional.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (i.e. Oracle NetSuite preferred) and MS Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
