The position of Advanced System Support Specialist involves delivering exceptional customer service to clients while supporting and mentoring team members in troubleshooting complex Windows OS and networking issues, collaborating with vendors for third-party software support when needed, managing network infrastructure, and maintaining server and workstation systems.
This role focuses on solving escalated issues with Microsoft Windows servers, workstation operating systems, and network configurations. Key responsibilities include:
- Troubleshooting, repair, deployment, and management of all aspects of computer networks, software systems, and infrastructure, including servers, workstations, networking equipment, and application software.
- Advanced and escalated troubleshooting of Microsoft Windows servers, workstation operating systems, and network issues.
- Facilitating vendor support for third-party software to solve escalated issues.
- Planning and deploying server, network, and workstation installations, upgrades, and network refreshes, including server hardware builds, OS installation and configuration, software and application installation, and deployment of physical and virtual machines.
- Experience in a managed services environment.
- Three to four years of full workstation support with troubleshooting Windows OS (Windows 8.1 to 11), including peripherals such as printers and scanners.
- Minimum three years of relevant work experience in systems administration or a related field.
- Network experience, including firewalls, smart switches, access points, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, and routers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Server 2008+ and server OS management, administration, deployment, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency with Hyper-V and VMware hypervisors.
- Knowledge of multiple network operating systems, protocols, security best practices, and implementation techniques.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and cloud management.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to quickly grasp abstract concepts and apply them in troubleshooting without step-by-step instructions.
- Strong deductive reasoning and problem-solving skills without reliance on scripted steps.
- Excellent customer service skills, with a focus on timely and effective solutions in line with industry best practices.
- Strong teamwork, leadership, collaboration, and ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Proactive, outgoing personality with a willingness to take on new challenges and continuous learning.
