Job Summary

A medical virtual assistant works closely with healthcare professionals and health insurance companies to ensure the best interests of patients, healthcare providers, and medical establishments are met.

This role involves managing inbound calls from and outbound calls to patients, providers, and healthcare insurance companies regarding inquiries, appointments, and data verification. Strong communication skills and attention to detail are essential in this position.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage inbound and outbound calls to patients, providers, and healthcare insurance companies
  • Maintain great phone etiquette
  • Obtain medical history by navigating through Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) such as Cerner, Epic, AthenaNet/AthenaHealth, and NextGen
  • Verify healthcare insurance coverage and eligibility
  • Provide administrative support including data entry, appointment scheduling, email management, record management, and time-keeping
  • Take charge of health promotion, explanation of care plans, admissions, new patient intake, and front-desk triage
  • Establish a professional relationship with medical professionals and patients by acting as a primary liaison between patients and providers
Qualifications:
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • 1–2 years of experience in a medical-related field
  • Familiar with medical terminologies
  • Healthcare-related degree is highly preferred
  • Intermediate skills with Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office
  • HIPAA certification is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail
