Senior Communications Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced professional to join our publishing team. As a key member, you will play a vital role in shaping our publishing program, ensuring that our publications meet the highest standards of quality and excellence.

Your Role:

  • Lead the production of ADB publications, guiding manuscripts through the publication process and overseeing service providers to ensure timely delivery and excellence in design, editing, and production.
  • Manage institutional and commercial co-publishing partnerships for ADB publications, ensuring alignment with our broader institutional and policy objectives.
  • Safeguard ADB's intellectual property rights for its publications, protecting our content and brand identity.
  • Stay apprised of changes in technology and publishing best practices to enhance ADB's publishing program and provide expert advice to internal clients on publishing best practices and related organizational standards.
  • Ensure the roster of publication production service providers is well managed, high-performing, and aligned with publishing needs.

Requirements:

  • A Master's degree in Publishing, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or relevant development fields or a University degree in one of these areas and at least 5 years specialized experience relevant to the position can be considered.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience, including international work experience, preferably in a senior editorial role producing corporate or academic reports.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all aspects of academic book publishing, as well as emerging trends in marketing and dissemination.
  • Understanding of graphic design, typography, and desktop publishing principles, techniques, and software for digital and print projects.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team of professionals and establish productive working relationships with other departments, authors, colleagues, and vendors.
