Carton Packaging Estimator Role

The role of a Carton Packaging Estimator involves preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for folding carton packaging projects.

This requires analyzing packaging specifications, customer drawings, and production capabilities to determine job scope and manufacturing requirements. Additionally, the estimator will utilize historical cost data and supplier pricing to prepare quotes, maintain and update pricing databases, and support customer inquiries with technical and cost-related input.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare Accurate Estimates: Develop detailed estimates that take into account various factors such as material costs, labor costs, and production efficiency.
  • Analyze Specifications: Carefully examine packaging specifications, customer drawings, and production capabilities to ensure accurate quoting and project management.
  • Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with sales, production, and design teams to determine job scope, manufacturing requirements, and potential cost-saving opportunities.
  • Utilize Historical Data: Leverage historical cost data and supplier pricing to optimize quote preparation and minimize errors.
  • Maintain Databases: Regularly update pricing databases and Excel-based estimate sheets to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Support Customer Inquiries: Provide timely and informative responses to customer inquiries regarding technical and cost-related matters.
  • Monitor Performance: Continuously monitor job costing performance to refine future estimations and improve overall efficiency.
Qualifications:
  • Estimating Experience: Proven experience in estimating folding carton packaging projects, with a strong understanding of printing processes and packaging material specifications.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Analytical Abilities: Strong mathematical and analytical abilities, with the capacity to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with cross-functional teams and customers.
