Procurement Leader

The Procurement Leader is responsible for spearheading the procurement strategy, ensuring seamless operations through effective supervision.

Job Position Overview

This role involves supervising a team of Buyers/Senior Buyers, providing daily support, and handling training and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and document technical information from vessels, workshops, and vendors to support operations.
  • Manage timely invoice clearance and prepayment remittances within assigned pods to maintain strong supplier relationships.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with committed cost and requisition requirements.
  • Assist buyers by guiding the coordination of quotations, vendor selection, and logistics to secure best value.
  • Provide oversight on weekly reports of overdue invoices, ensuring timely clearance and improved cash flow.
  • Establish a vendor list for frequently used spares and services to optimize the supply chain.
  • Serve as an escalation point for urgent operational support, addressing challenges with technical acumen.
Supervisory and People Management Responsibilities
  • Manage and mentor a team of Buyers, inspiring collaboration and alignment to goals.
  • Implement new procedures and processes, fostering continuous improvement.
  • Train buyers and senior buyers on Office 365 and procurement systems, emphasizing complete documentation.
  • Assess training needs of assigned pods and communicate findings to the Senior Lead Buyer.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and develop tailored professional development plans.
  • Monitor team attendance and address potential resource shortages for operational continuity.
  • Facilitate weekly meetings with technical teams to promote cross-functional coordination.
  • Act as a trusted escalation point for technical teams, resolving buyer- or supply chain-related issues.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3+ years of work experience in the maritime industry as Buyer or Senior Buyer.
  • IVE or Diploma of any faculty with 5+ years relevant work experience as a Buyer or Senior Buyer.
  • Previous experience of people management strongly desirable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English is a MUST.
  • Strong team player with a positive working attitude.
  • Willingness to learn new IT systems and drive change in the team.
