The Contracts Engineer plays a pivotal role in ensuring project success by effectively managing subcontractor and supplier contracts.
This entails preparing, reviewing, and maintaining accurate records of contract terms, scope coverage, and inclusions/exclusions to guarantee compliance with project requirements.
A strong understanding of contract administration is essential for this position, including the ability to review and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
The ideal candidate will possess proficiency in Bluebeam for drawing review, takeoffs, and documentation, with experience in ApprovalMax being highly valued.
Key Responsibilities- Preparation, review, and management of subcontractor and supplier contracts.
- Verification of contract terms, scope coverage, and inclusions/exclusions to ensure compliance.
- Double-checking material quantities and scope coverage against project requirements.
- Utilization of Bluebeam to review drawings, markups, and perform takeoffs as required.
- Identification of discrepancies or gaps in contractor submissions and recommendation of solutions.
- Review and comparison of contractor quotes and scopes to ensure accurate evaluation.
- Preparation of recommendations for contractor selection based on price, scope, and compliance.
- Maintenance of up-to-date records of contractor pricing and project-related documentation.
- Provision of progress updates and reporting to the Construction Manager on contract status and variations.
- Assistance in preparation of variations, progress claims, and compliance reports as required.
The Contracts Engineer will collaborate closely with the Construction Manager, Estimating team, and project stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are imperative for this role.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field (desired).
- 3–5 years of experience in contract administration or project support within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of contract terms, scopes, and construction documentation.
- Ability to review and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- High attention to detail with excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and familiarity with construction management software.
The successful candidate will be organized, process-driven, and detail-oriented with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
