Job Summary:
The Head Chef at Linley's Kitchen & Cafe will be responsible for leading all aspects of the kitchen operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, delicious food that aligns with the cafe's concept and brand. This role requires a passionate and experienced culinary professional with strong leadership skills, creativity, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen environment. The Head Chef will oversee menu development, food preparation, staff management, and cost control, contributing significantly to the overall success of the cafe.
Responsibilities:
- Menu Development and Execution:
- Create innovative and appealing menu items that reflect Linley's Kitchen & Cafe's culinary vision and cater to the local palate.
- Develop and standardize recipes, ensuring consistency in flavor and presentation.
- Regularly review and update the menu based on customer feedback, seasonal availability, and market trends.
- Ensure flawless execution of all menu items, maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.
- Kitchen Management:
- Oversee all kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Manage inventory, ordering, and stock control to minimize waste and ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure that all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and functioning.
- Implement and enforce kitchen procedures and standards.
- Staff Leadership and Development:
- Recruit, train, and supervise kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Schedule staff effectively to ensure adequate coverage and efficient workflow.
- Provide ongoing feedback and coaching to kitchen staff, promoting professional development.
- Lead by example, demonstrating culinary expertise and a strong work ethic.
- Resolve staff conflicts.
- Cost Control and Budgeting:
- Monitor food costs and implement strategies to minimize expenses without compromising quality.
- Work with the restaurant owner/manager to develop and adhere to the kitchen budget.
- Negotiate with suppliers to obtain competitive pricing for ingredients and supplies.
- Control waste.
- Quality Control and Compliance:
- Ensure all food is prepared and served in accordance with food safety and sanitation standards.
- Conduct regular quality checks to ensure consistency and excellence in food preparation.
- Maintain accurate records of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Stay updated on current culinary trends and best practices.
- Customer Satisfaction:
- Address customer food-related concerns.
- Ensure that all food that leaves the kitchen is of the highest quality.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or Sous Chef in a reputable restaurant or cafe.
- Strong culinary skills and knowledge of various cooking techniques and cuisines.
- Excellent leadership and management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Ability to manage inventory and control costs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Formal culinary training or certification is preferred.
- Experience with local Filipino cuisine is a large plus.
